install under XP (and Windows 7)

Dear All

I'm trying to get OpenDX running under Windows XP and also Windows 7.   In the former I am running under Exceed and in the latter the XWin server supplied via cygwin.   In both cases I can get the Data Explorer window up and can specify a simple grid file via the Data Prompter Window but I get no further when I try to select the 'visualise data' button

On XP I obtained a windows security alert re dxexec and dxui. I made changes to the firewall settings for both of these but now the Data Prompter simply hangs when I try to visualise data

On Windows 7 the Control Panels appear and disappear quickly again after the visualise data step.

Is there anything obvious I should check or set?

You should first try to run some of the sample programs. That will tell you
if the installation is ok or not.

The sample programs would seem to work fine. It is just the 'visualise data' via the Data Prompter which causes the problem.

I have seen this behavior before. By just clicking "Visualize" again, I was able
to get it to work OK. See if that works for you.
