Hi All,
Has anyone used OpenDX to plot and display WRF's wrfout netcdf files? I am very interested, but need some pointers on getting started and pitfalls to avoid.

thanks,
Theo Carter, Weather Forecaster, Abu Dhabi International Airport.

Yes, I have and for some time as well as output of other NWP codes.  Unlike the typical packages that are used with WRF output, DX can easily handle the data in the native model coordinates.  I've attached a screen dump of a viewer for such data for your reference.

There are additional examples of such visualizations at http://www.research.ibm.com/weather/DT.html as well as some details about the approach.

Dear Lloyd Treinish:

Your picture is very insightful and beautiful! I am very interested in visualizing meteorology data. So I want to find some examples just like what you did in deep thunder project. Can you provide me some such sample resources.
    Very thanks in advance!
