X-Window independence?
05/04/06 at 18:22:10

Hi,

I bought OpenDX for OS/X last year and also upgraded recently.

I would like to find out from the developers if there are plans for a version in future that is independent of X-Window (for both Windows and OS/X)

I am not after a date but more to find out if it is something the developers are moving towards or are the obstacles making it non-economical to consider.

I would like to hear about the obstacles.

  PM if necessary.

Cheers

We are actively developing a native Windows version of the UI right now in C#--you can see the code at <http://developer.berlios.de/projects/opendx2/>. As for MacOS X, I've been looking at this code a lot and can see how it could be converted to the native UI--however, without any funding for such an effort--I don't see how I can justify it.

With the use of C# for OpenDX2 and the availability of Mono, there is at least a glimpse of hope (optimistic look)

Thanks for the heads up David.

Nicholas,

I'm working on a Mac OS X native version. It's approaching 'alpha' stage. If you have any questions feel free to email me off line.

David, this website says the project hasn't posted any files.

You need to look at the CVS.
